Norah Jones ...Featuring {Review}

I must admit, I've had a hard time listening to this album. Not because I haven't enjoyed the music, but because Christmas music started playing on the radio the same time this c.d. arrived. And I LOVE Christmas music. But I also love Norah Jones. I did not realize the music that this album had to offer. It should have been obvious from the title, ...Featuring, that the music would include other artists featuring Norah Jones. I did not realize this until I was reading through the track list.

...Featuring Track Listing:
1. Love Me – The Little Willies
2. Virginia Moon – The Foo Fighters featuring Norah Jones
3. Turn Them – Sean Bones featuring Norah Jones
4. Baby It's Cold Outside – Willie Nelson featuring Norah Jones
5. Bull Rider – Norah Jones and Sasha Dobson
6. Ruler Of My Heart – Dirty Dozen Brass Band featuring Norah Jones
7. The Best Part – El Madmo
8. Take Off Your Cool – OutKast featuring Norah Jones
9. Life Is Better – Q-Tip featuring Norah Jones
10. Soon The New Day – Talib Kweli featuring Norah Jones
11. Little Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John – Belle & Sebastian featuring Norah Jones
12. Here We Go Again – Ray Charles featuring Norah Jones
13. Loretta – Norah Jones featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
14. Dear John – Ryan Adams featuring Norah Jones
15. Creepin' In – Norah Jones featuring Dolly Parton
16. Court & Spark – Herbie Hancock featuring Norah Jones
17. More Than This – Charlie Hunter featuring Norah Jones
18. Blue Bayou – Norah Jones featuring M. Ward

What an eclectic variety of music! I especially liked track #4 Baby it's Cold Outside. You know, to go along with my current Christmas music theme!
...Featuring arrived in stores November 16th and is a collection of the multi-platinum, Grammy award winning singer's collaborations from the past decade. Songs include duets with legends such as Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton. Norah also partners with 21st century icons like OutKast and Foo Fighters. This album includes styles from jazz to country and hip-hop to rock.

“A lot of the people on this record are people I've worshiped since I was a kid, and some of them are younger and more my contemporaries,” says Norah. “Even though the musicians are so varied, the vibe of the songs makes sense when we put them all together.”

While not all for the songs were the style of music I normally listen too, it was fun to hear Norah in all of the different music genres. And while I may be pushing repeat on track #4 for now, I look forward to listening to this album again and again after Christmas! For more info about Norah Jones and ...Featuring, visit her

    Sarah McLachlan Laws Of Illusion {Review}

    Sarah McLachlan, the Grammy® award winning, multi-platinum singer/songwriter, released her new album Laws of Illusion on June 15th. This is her first album of new material in seven years! The album release also coincides with the return of Lilith Fair. I love Sarah McLachlan and was lucky enough to be chosen to preview the album. I have yet to hear a song from Sarah that I didn't like and this album does not disappoint. She has such a calming tone to her voice. This c.d. has really helped me to relax since having a new baby this month. The album’s first single is “Loving You Is Easy” and it is one of my favorites. To find out more about Sarah and Laws of Illusion check out her website. And for info about Lilith Fair go here.

    One eskimO {Review}

    I was recently introduced to a band called One eskimO. They are an English band with a #1 adult alternative song called "Kandi" which Los Angeles Times Magazine hails a beautiful, aspirational track.. Band members include singer-songwriter Kristian Leontiou, Pete Rinaldi (guitar), Jamie Sefton (bass, horns) and Adam Falkner (drums). I was able to preview their new self titled album and have really enjoyed the mellow, catchy tunes. My three year old even liked it and said it was pretty music. The CD arrived while I was on vacation. I wish it would have come sooner so we could have enjoyed the calming music in the car. The band is currently on tour through August. For more info on the band you can check out the One eskimO web site. Or check them out on Facebook.
