Mat Kearney Young Love {Review}

Young Love is Mat Kearney's recently released third album. Mat has had songs played on T.V. shows like 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, The Hills, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, and NCIS just to name a few. He has been on tour with The Fray, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, and Keane. His album debuted at #1 on iTunes and has been in the #5 spot on Rock Charts. So why have I never heard of him? Hopefully you have heard of him and have been enjoying his other albums. I will need to locate and listen to these other albums because if they are anything like Young Love, they will be fantastic.
Young Love starts off with "Hey Mama" which is a song about Mat's first meeting with his wife at an Anthropologie store where she was working. My little girls were immediately up and dancing and told me what a good song it was. To my delight the whole album wasn't just good, it was great. We continue to listen to Young Love over and over enjoying Mat's beautiful music.
Starting this month Mat will be playing almost 40 shows across the U.S. and Canada. Tour dates are listed below. Don't forget to check out the cool widget above with links to Mat's website, twitter, facebook, music video, concert tickets and a whole lot more.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Yanni concert in Salt LakeCity, Utah. I know what most people are thinking. It's the same thing everyone thought when I was trying to find someone to go with me. Yanni? Really? I even had someone offer to babysit so she wouldn't have to go to the concert. I probably would have thought the same thing except I quite liked his latest album. So when I was asked to review the concert, I thought, why not. It can't be that bad.

And it was not that bad. In fact, it was great! Yanni really puts on a good show with some very talented musicians in his band. He played a good mix of old and new songs and had every member of the band perform a solo. The harp solo was pretty cool and the violinists were amazing.

Yanni was really finny and kept making jokes throughout the whole show. He even joked about Spring in Utah (we have snow one day and then it is 70 degrees the next). He also enjoyed talking with the audience. One woman even got a kiss after asking, If dreams really come true, can I have a kiss?
I could tell that he is very passionate about his music and finds a lot of joy in the performance. The song he wrote for his mother, Felicia, was very beautiful. He also, performed about four encore songs. Yanni will be on tour through May 22. To see if he will be in a city new you, please visit his website.

Yanni Truth of Touch {Review}

Yanni. What can I say. Before hearing this album I would always say that Yanni made me yawn. I guess I never really gave him a chance before. I thought it was only music older people would like. I am glad to say that I gave Truth Of Touch a chance and was pleasantly surprised. I actually really enjoyed the album. My two favorite songs were Can't Wait and O Luce Che Brilla Nell'Oscurita which both had vocals but all of the instrumental songs were great too. My husband told me I should now listen to some of Yanni's older albums. I just might give those a chance too.

This is Yanni's first release of original compositions in over eight years. “I work the rhythms in this album,” explains Yanni about the new material. “There is a beautiful complexity in these rhythms, a new sound design. I think the melodic content is very strong and very memorable. I was having fun with this album and that’s going to become apparent.”

Yanni is currently on a 40 date tour that kicked off on March 22. The tour will take him to major cities across the US including Radio City Music Hall in NYC, Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and good old West Valley City here in Utah on April 30th. You can check out all the tour dates here. To learn more about Yanni and Truth Of Touch, make sure to visit his website.
